A political cartoon is a cartoon that makes a point about a political issue or event. You can find them in any daily newspaper, but they won't be in the comics section. Instead, look on the editorial pages – they're right next to the editorial columns, and across from the opinion essays.
There are five elements of a political cartoon (symbol, exaggeration, irony, labeling, and analogy). Identify the methods and techniques used by the cartoonist to convey a message. Draw on higher-level thinking skills to interpret the elements of a political cartoon and to understand the cartoonist's point of view. In this case, that is YOU! You can use one of my ideas below, or create your own.

Final Product: On Canvas you will submit a low resolution .PDF. This is a new assignment, so I will set the due date when I feel like students have had enough time. I am thinking around 3 days should do it.
- Full page spread
- You can have 1 drawn element (for times sake)
- Find vector or drawn art for the imagery
- Use interesting typography
- -You can create your own topic, or you use one of these IDEAS. You may not simply use the graphic I posted (obviously). In the last example, you will have to add your own text.
-You can create graphics in Illustrator with drawing tools and import them into InDesign.
